The long road to restoration often has pit stops
Last night we were able to remove the sofa that was once in the office... those of you who knew us when we moved into this house (our first house) will recall that we (meaning I) got the sofa STUCK in the doorway between the kitchen and the office because of course we (again, meaning I) didn't think to measure anything and thought surely a sofa should fit through any width door.
A few hours, a chainsaw, and a desire to destroy stuff later... we managed to get the sofa out without harming each other or the furniture piece - and once a new day dawned and more family came as reinforcements we realized removing the legs, taking a door off its hinges would be easier. Needless to say, the sofa has stayed exactly where we put it 3 years ago. It was weird to see the room empty. And I had forgotten how the previous owner never cleaned the carpets before we moved in... as evidenced by the desk pattern stains we saw once the sofa was evacuated.

I wont miss the carpet at all. We rolled it up last night and there was also proof of previous water damage. And nice mold to accompany. I was congested the rest of the night. Once all this is over we are paying for major duct cleaning and soft surface allergen removal.
The flooring guys will be there today to chip out some tiles at the entry to the office and removal of the old wood flooring and baseboards. They will begin work there tomorrow to install the new wood... unreal that we could go to a football game in Tampa tomorrow and come home to all new flooring... AHHHH!!!!
Another shameless plug for our insurance company - they received my request for reimbursement for the 2 weeks in a hotel while the bathroom was demolished... approved it this morning and the $800 will be in our account tomorrow. Sweet!
