Photo update

See what I freed from our hot tub -- it was floating on our thermometer getting fat from eating all the bugs --- he was fished out and freed.

I love to give flowers for special occasions.. this is an arrangement I did for a co-worker's 30th birthday today. It was the only peace I had last night as the fridge, washer leaking, flat tire fiasco unfolded (read below for more on that)

Dont you hate when you dress almost the same as someone else at work! This is my bud Cristina, we started the very same day at our place -- and a mutual friend gave us the same necklace for Christmas... the odds of wearing it on the same day are apparently really good!

A Monday that lived up to its reputation

*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*

Ok, I just had to get that out there because it has been soooo frustrating at our home tonight. Basically, the day itself went fine. I had to be at several work meetings, one off-site, and knowing that work was mounting up back at the office didn't feel like the best use of my time. In any case, 5 o'clock rolled around and I was more than happy to be heading home -- everything seemed normal in the house, until I started to do the evening sweep of the dog hair -- there was water coming from under the stove... not good. We've had issues in the past with the fridge (one time it even decided to auto-defrost and we lost all our food, but it came back on - weird!) Sure enough, the psycho fridge was doing it again!!!! The ice was melting, causing the puddle under the appliances, and the food was starting to thaw .. NASTY!

I'm so ... URGH... MAD!!!!!!!!!! These stupid appliances the guy before us purchased are just evil! Since we moved in the fridge has rained from the front of the ice maker (ice maker that hasn't worked a single day, I might add!) and now this. So, as if dealing with this problem wasnt enough, Tim gets home and heads to get ice to at least pull together a cooler to save our groceries and the truck has a flat! OF COURSE IT DOES. So Tim got ice and some air, and we're back in business trying to save the food. After about an hour+ of cleaning things up, cooking what I thought should be cooked (very post-hurricane feeling going on)... I noticed laundry needs to be done of items that are crucial for tomorrow. I throw in a load... as I'm sitting here trying to post this I hear the laundry spinning and it sounds a bit off... YEP, it's leaking too!!!! LORD GOD I'M BEGGING YOU, stop all the forces that are working against me today!

Let's see if I can't burn the house down with the clothes dryer! Wish me luck!

Encouragement for today

God is our refuge and strength,

an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam

and the mountains quake with their surging . . .

"Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth."

Psalm 46:1-3, 10 (NIV).

I out-do myself!

I'm getting more experimental in my kitchen. Maybe it's confidence, or boredom. Anyhow ... I made shrimp and green beans in a homemade garlic cream sauce tonight!

Overall an easy fix:
Fresh green beans
Fresh (or previously frozen) gulf shrimp
Noodles of any kind
Butter and flour melted and mixed to make a roux
Half and half or milk
Garlic powder and salt to taste

Basically, cook all ingredients and then toss... makes a beautiful dinner!

Happy New Year 2007!!!

Happy New Year everyone!

We went to a nice, quiet New Year's party last night, hosted by some friends Damon and Debra who are moving overseas in about 2 weeks. Very sad to see them go, but we know it's a great opportunity for their family, and they plan on returning so we will keep in touch and hope we're around when they come back home.

The theme was a "tour of Asia" so we had a little Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese cuisine, and fortune cookies and crowns at the end of the night.
