Kudos to Tim

I just had to drop off some recent pics - Tim started a commitment to getting healthier and I'm amazed at his transformation... it's been about 11 or 12 weeks now. And through a program that has taken a lot of commitment he's lost more than 40 lbs and he's down about 3 pants sizes.

Before (in August with our college's football coach):

And in October at a family wedding:

The never-ending project

Again, I promise this IS an improvement. If we didnt have jobs we'd be a lot closer to a nice yard. Everywhere you see dirt imagine nice, lush grass.

The complete yard:

And a little treat we bought ourselves to celebrate all our hard work and surviving the nightmare at our house the last 5 months:

A photo update of our backyard

I'm so sore and tired I can't even give a narrative update. Just wanted to drop some pics and say big thanks to Andrew for the help this weekend...

The "study"

A big improvement huh? This is Tim's new study.

Believe me ... this IS an improvement

Anyone who has been to our house knows the gay guy who owned the place before us LOVED to plant and garden - and he created an outdoor oasis in the back yard. Needless to say, it's been almost 4 years since we bought the house and with our schedules and lack of passion for yard work (oh and 2 years of back to back record-setting hurricane seasons which destroyed trees, landscape lighting, and 2 hot tub gazebos) the yard is a disaster.

We finally made the decision to get rid of a lot of what used to occupy the areas. First, a point of reference - when we bought the house:

After a hurricane (which one, eh who knows)

During and after most of the demo (and the HUGE piles out for trash tomorrow):

we also pressure washed the tile patio and bricks and I painted a fresh coat of white on the garage french doors.

Before the washing:

And now:

Doors (right one is the before, left represents the after)

And the things you find when you start to dig - there was a gorilla in the midst:

There were pavers behind the hot tub (apparently the guy also put an in-ground spa above ground and built a surround??)

And here's the result - our back yard is now essentially in the front. Wonder how much the city will cite us for this pile? Did I mention there is a smaller one on the other side too?
