America's Finest Fort?
We decided to do St. Simons Island last night instead of waiting for Monday - after dinner at a legit Mexican place (Don Orlando's) we ventured over to the island and tried to get over to Sea Island (very ritzy) with nO luck (no reservations AND we're driving a rented Hyundai... you do the math).
It was super windy and very cool for it being summer in Georgia... but there were some folks still on the beach. We snapped some photos just to prove we were there:

After a late breakfast at Denny's we hit an outlet mall in Darien and on the way back we found our way to Fort King George, the oldest and southern most post of the British Army in the 1700s. The information at the museum was very honest about the fact that invalid soldiers were the ones who guarded the fort and many died as a result of disease and illness and the army wouldnt send healthy soldiers to replace them so the fort eventually was overtaken...
Between the terrible bugs that attacked us the entire time and the overall conditions I could see why so many gave way to disease as opposed to live in those conditions... we had a great laugh though - as we swatted bugs off each other and took silly pics to pass the time...

Memorial Day Update

Greetings from Middle-of-nowhere Georgia- I've come up to visit Tim (yes, he's STILL gone!) After 3 weeks I have come to visit for the 3-day holiday weekend. This place has a special meaning to us, as odd as that sounds. We did our honeymoon here 6 years ago on the Golden Isles islands of Jekyll, St. Simons, Cumberland and Savannah, GA. I arrived late Friday night in my lovely rented Hyundai Sonata (recommendation - dont buy one... I miss my V8!) The only food open when I got in was the McDonald's down the street where I'm pretty sure they made me a cheeseburger using a breakfast sausage patty - but whatever, I was starving!
Saturday we slept as late as we could, which amounted to later than 10am with the blackout shades shielding us from the morning's rays. It was nice to see that not much had changed since I was last here about 5.5 years ago... had lunch at the same rundown mall and went to the HUGEST Steve & Barry's clothing store (it used to be a Kmart! That's how huge it is!)

We of course had to hit Sonic! (Tim was good and had nothing, but I had to at least have a shake!)
I surprised Tim by making dinner reservations at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel's Grand Dining Room (http://www.jekyllclub.com/). We did our first honeymoon night in the Presidential Suite - awesome memories of the Island. They we having a diamond show but I managed to not get distracted. Dinner was amazing! We missed the down pour as we sat inside by the window at a nice romantic table... service was amazing as our cups were never empty and the maitre d' made sure we had a nice glass of complimentary champagne "in honor of the occasion" as we celebrated a 2nd honeymoon of sorts. Tim had the filet and I had the flounder - AMAZING food, great music from a skilled pianist -- overall a night to remember.
On the bridge over and the entrance to the Island:
Since the rain had stopped we wandered the grounds and found this old tree that 6 years ago we had sat on and posed for a photo... a hotel staff boy was more than willing to take some photos for us even in the dark!
Today we started at the Cracker Barell then saw a movie, and we're heading out for dinner at an Italian place (owned by Donna Lea - guess Georgia has it's own version of Italian? As long as I can get a sweet tea I'm in heaven)! Tim says it is pretty tasty. My flight home is tomorrow late evening so we'll probably head to St. Simons tomorrow.
Some more photos...

Ok, I get it, I'm a slacker
Hi everyone. I know, I know - I'm a slacker... been almost a month since I posted last. And to think I'm a communications director by trade! Shame on me not communicating with my public.
Here's a synopsis of what's new (or not so new)
-- Tim's in Georgia for the entire month of May. He was selected for training which could lead to some great promotion and overseas job possibilities. He passed the management test and is in a great position to network his way into some very desirable locations so please help us and pray for God's favor in this process as we seek where He would have us go.
-- My health is great - it's been a hard weekend as the area temperatures have been above 90! But, overall if I take it easy and stay inside I'm doing great. Still not on any medication because it will require daily injections and I'm not to the point where I feel like I can do that to myself yet - so once he gets back we've got an appointment with the neurologist to get a plan firmed up and needles here I come.
-- My business is picking up and I've got about 5 projects I'm working on right now (the design business that is). You can see more samples at http://www.decemberfirstdesigns.com if you're interested.
-- The new car got it's first real road trip test last week as I took Cooper up to The Scotts' for the weekend to see Tim off on his trip - Coop had all sorts of room and I think the big guys enjoyed the ride as well (playing football on the PS2!) Coop also got to visit with his "cousins" Jacob and Tyler who he always has much love for.
-- This weekend I hope to get some front landscape work done since we had the front part cleared out and I need to make it pretty because right now it's the ugliest lot on the street, ha! I will be sure to document the process on film.
That's all that's new in our area - sad that a month can be summed up in a few short bullet points, but I either dont want to bore you or we really have a boring life?

All the room he wants and a dog toy in the cup holder

Thank goodness for wireless headphones for the back seats!

At a work event - amazing property, huh?
